What of Life?
Life is precious...it should be promoted, protected and accorded reverence and respect. Every human being has an immeasurable dignity and unalienable right to life. But in contemporary society lines have become blurred. Questions linger where before there was certainty. Through the presentation of detailed information, Tennessee Right to Life helps to shift public opinion toward a deeper appreciation for human life against the following threats:

ABORTION ON DEMAND
Women can legally abort their unborn child at any time throughout their entire nine months of pregnancy...for any reason. According to survey data collected by abortion providers, 95% of abortions are done as a means of birth control or to eliminate an unplanned pregnancy.
At 8 weeks, the stomach, liver, kidneys and brain are functioning. Gingerprints have formed. Almost 800,000 abortions are done each year in America after this point in pregnancy. 1.4 million abortions are performed in th U.S. each year; approximately 16,000 in Tennessee alone. Babies are killed and women are scarred both physically and emotionally. In a 1985 University of Minnesota study, it was found that 81% of post-abortive mothers reported preoccupation with their aborted child.

PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION
As a respected physician and public official, Tennessee Senator Bill Frist has helped Americans realize that this form of abortion is never medically necessary. The gruesome procedure kills a child within the birth canal and was developed by greedy abortionists eager to harvest and market the tissue of unborn children to medical researchers.

INFANTICIDE
| Following the logic of pro-abortion arguments, the next step down the slippery slope is infanticide, the practic of killing "unwanted" newborn children, either directly, or indirectly through the withholding of nutrition or basic medical care. Bio-ethicist Peter Singer, tenured professor of ethics at Princeton University, openly advocates the killing of "unwanted" infants as "socially responsible." "Since neither infant nor a fish is a person, the wrongness of killing such beings is not as great as the wrongness of killin a person," says Singer. |

HUMAN CLONING
Human cloning violates human dignity by treating unborn embryos as products or commodities to be artificially created and sold for research purposes. Cloning sets up a caste system in which some lives are more valuable than others and in which human persons become the "property" of others.

EUTHANASIA
Proponents of "assisted suicide" respond to the cries of those suffering with disease or depression with one final solution: hasten death. Rather than promote adequate pain relief and emotional support, euthanasia is strongly encouraged for those whose lives are considered by others "not worth living" or a drain on society. Like abortion, support for euthanasia is built upon fear and worst case scenarios using rare and tragic case studies.

Think about it...
While society increasingly places greater emphasis on the "quality of life," we must never allow it to override our concern for life itself.
